On Wednesday September 12, United Voice members in aged care celebrated the first “Thank You for Working in Aged Care Day.”
Members from metropolitan and regional sites wore stickers and held a range of events including morning teas and lunches.
United Voice Delegate Jo Bryant said,
“Aged care is not an easy job.
“It made a nice change for aged care workers like me to feel appreciated for the work we do every day.
United Voice Delegate Rosemary Lambe said,
“We had a lovely day celebrating with our co-workers and union representatives.
“I look forward to making this an annual event!”
This is one of many activities as part of the recently-launched Our Turn To Care campaign in aged care.
Our Turn to Care will be campaigning for sustainable and reliable funding for wages and services in the aged care sector – because all older Australians deserve quality care and a dignified life.
