Bargaining Representatives Step Up at Adelaide Venue Management

United Voice members at Adelaide Venue Management (AVM) sites have been negotiating for a single Enterprise Agreement since April.

United Voice members at Adelaide Venue Management (AVM) sites have been negotiating for a single Enterprise Agreement since April.

Members employed at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Entertainment Centre and Coopers Stadium have filled out surveys and played an active role in negotiations.

Bargaining representatives were elected to represent each department during negotiations. The process of combining the two Agreements has been an arduous task, but negotiations have been positive to date.

Upon certification of a single Agreement, staff will be able to work across all three venues.

Sharyn works at the Adelaide Convention Centre, and this is her first experience in Enterprise Bargaining.

“It’s interesting and there’s a lot to learn. As bargaining representatives, we act as a voice for members.

“Now that United Voice is our Union, workers are getting much more involved by becoming members and getting active.”

Andy works as a Security Officer at Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

“We negotiated more strongly this time round because members have stood together shoulder to shoulder, with a common purpose of achieving the best possible outcome in negotiations.

“Times aren’t easy for anyone right now, and it’s so important for members to work together and display a united front to maintain and improve our conditions.”
